2012 Spanish Film Festival Announces the 15th Anniversary Edition

The 2012 Spanish Film Festival, presented by Estrella Damm, returns to Australia in July, warming your winter with its 15th Birthday celebrations.

For its 15th year, the festival will once again travel to Palace Cinemas in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Adelaide and Perth, screening a rich programme of contemporary Spanish language cinema 4 - 25 July.

From Festival Director Natalia Ortiz comes a program featuring several highlights:

As Luck Would Have It [La Chispa de la vida] starring the captivating Salma Hayek - from the 2012 Berlinale and days ago named the jewell of the Tribeca Film Festival by Indiewire - about an out-of-work publicist who suffers and accident and plans to sell the exclusive interview rights to the highest bidder in an attempt to provide for his family; insomnia-provoking thriller Sleep Tight [Meintras duermes] starring a pitch-perfect Luis Tosar (Cell 21) as an apartment block concierge in Barcelon who turns on the inhabitants after dark; and the endearing drama Chinese Take Away [Cuento chino], set in Buenos Aires and starring celebrated Argentinian actor Ricardo Darin (The Secret in Their Eyes) as a solitary man compelled to take in a Chinese lodger.

The 15th Spanish Film Festival is presented by Estrella Damm and produced with the support of the Ministries of Culture and Foreign Affairs in Spain, ICAA (Institute of Cinema and Audiovisual Arts), the Spanish Consulate in Sydney and Melbourne, The Spanish Embassy, SBS TV and Radio, World Movies, Singapore Airlines and many prestigious Spanish and Australian companies.
