Poll: What Is Your Favourite Redford/Newman Film?

While The Sting is a supremely entertaining film, and feature excellent performances from both men, I can't go past their hilarious partnership in Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid. What is your favourite film collaboration between Robert Redford and Paul Newman?

  3. Sadly haven't seen The Sting but I doubt it would come anywhere near Butch Cassidy in terms of entertainment value ;)

  4. Finally saw The Sting a few months ago and I though it was no frills, professional moviemaking. But yeah, Butch & Sundance all the way.

  5. Thanks for the comments everyone. It seems like 'Butch Cassidy' is the favoured choice. Castor, 'The Sting' is well worth a look. It is as Nicholas describes it. Pure entertainment. The pair seem to have a ball together!

  6. I'd go the other side of the fence and say The Sting, for the atmosphere, and maybe because my dad and I still use robert shaws phrase "Do you follow" all the time, haha. Although Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid is excellent too.

Gangster movies or westerns are not normally my scene, but both these films have very good chemistry, witty and memorable dialogue, so that trumps genre cliches for me.
And you've gotta like a character who's name was used for a film festival ( :

  7. @ Moviesandsongs365 - Oh yeah! Redford and Newman were my mother's favourites. I think they were favourites of every woman my mother's age haha. I think it's pretty cool that the Sundance Film Festival was named after Redford's iconic character. I recently watched The Sting and found it hugely enjoyable. Simple, classy, professional filmmaking with the cast appearing to have a great time. The score is great, and it is always fun to watch a caper film. But Butch and Sundance is such a classic of the Western genre.

Like you use "Do you follow?" all the time, my mother and I use "Who are those guys?" from Butch and Sundance a lot too! Thanks for the comment, and for jumping on the other side of the fence :-)
